Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the planet and is significantly sustainable. When you cut it down it quickly grows back, and when left unattended it will take over its environment. A grove of bamboo releases 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. It is well known for its ability to clean the air of toxins and carbon, ultimately lowering our carbon footprint and fighting climate change.
As a building material, it is one of the strongest materials to date, outperforming wood, brick, concrete, and even has a higher tensile strength than steel. Yet, it remains flexible enough for delicate materials. Even more so, bamboo can tolerate extreme conditions, and was the first plant to regreen after the atomic blast in Hiroshima. This plant’s incredible ability to heal, grow, cleanse, and purify with great strength is a great symbol of SKN BAR Rx and our passion for rejuvenating skincare.
HISTORY
Bamboo has been used for thousands of years for building and sustenance. It is sustainable, versatile, sturdy and flexible and can be used for so many things. From small common materials, being made into fiber for clothing, adding bamboo shoots to your favorite stir-fry, to building entire houses, it is almost better to note what bamboo cannot be used for.
NUTRITION
The edible part of the bamboo plant are the bamboo shoots, that are often boiled and peeled and commonly used in Asian cuisine. They are highly nutritious and are a great source of fiber, copper, and vitamins B6 and E. Copper helps maintain the skin’s elasticity and with a healthful intake, you can experience the antiaging benefits from this mineral. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects against inflammation and chronic disease.
SKINCARE
The Korean Beauty Industry popularized bamboo extract, emphasizing how it can rejuvenate our skin in more ways than one.
